Cutting Board Care and Maintenance
Caring for wood in the kitchen may seem like a mystery, but it’s actually pretty easy.
The most common question is “How do I maintain my cutting board?”, so we’ve put together this short instruction to help you out.
If you use a wood #countertop as a cutting or chopping surface, be willing to accept cuts and scratches in the surface and simply apply beeswax and mineral oil to the #wood.
Before you start, be sure your boards are very clean. Give them a scrub with lemon and salt. The acid in these liquids will neutralize the organic material or fats causing the problem.
The boards should also be dry before oiling. The oil should be left to soak in as long as possible and then just give them a quick wipe to take off any excess oil.
